Mastery of the technology used in the high court has been a challenge for some Court staff.Judges in Barbados are calling for less archaic systems and ways of conducting court business and matters as the country embarks on journey as a Republic Nation.Judges and Magistrates prefer to have their courts function and maximize on time.
The social landscape of society has changed and laws have been amended to reflect such considerations in society among them are the o laws to reflect the changes in our modern and functional society where technology is integrated. A few of those include The Computer Misuse Act, Intellectual Property Act, Data Protection Act, Education Act,Public Service Act, Data Protection Bill, Disability act with United Nations, and more recently,The protection of the child ACT encompassing Revenge Porn Act their data under the EMIS Policy all of which have an impact on the guidelines on the maintenance , delivery, storage and presentation of data and files within f the Halls of Justice and directly associated personnel .
The need for this design project is to create an application that efficiently manages the allocation of courtrooms in a court building. The intended audience for this application includes court administrators, staff members, and judges who are responsible for managing and scheduling the room allocations in the court building.
In modern court systems, efficient management and allocation of rooms within court buildings are crucial for smooth operations. However, many courts still rely on manual processes, leading to inefficiencies and logistical challenges. To address this issue, this instructional design course proposes the creation of an application tailored for managing and allocating rooms in a court building. This design outlines the need for such an application, identifies the target audience, provides a theoretical foundation, offers supporting literature, and examines existing software solutions in the field.
Throughout my journey in the Masters in Instructional Design and Technology, my initial focus to to master skills in every area . I developed an interest in being able to improve my knowledge beyond the educational field of which I have been in for the last 14 years. Today , it is with great pleasure that I anticipate the final submission of the last assignment piece for the Design Project. I am experiencing a myriad of emotions. These range from relief to excitement. Relief that I have finally completed and excitement as I am confident and ready to begin my next phase in my professional career becoming an Instructional Designer.
Every course I encountered with all its elements and tasks culminated in this final work. My core interests include but are not limited to Designing Instructional Media, Designing Learning and Performance Solutions, Analyzing Human Performance and Programme Evaluation. I am an even more valuable asset to my work environment as I perform through the lens whereby I use the tenant learned in Analyzing Human Performance and Needs Assessment for Learning and Performance to pinpoint , and remedy and forecast problems . I wish to invite you to view the process, stages of the deliverables in the design prospectus along with the , design project complete with and links and snapshots of the final deliverable.
For my final assignment as a participant in the programme, I chose a design project where I thought about a small perceived problem in my work environment and conducted a needs assessment in order to confirm its impact and causes. Additionally, I designed and implemented a solution and evaluated it to find out whether there was employee satisfaction and what changes could be done to improve it. The purpose of this design project was to highlight the need of the problem to decision-makers and to design and deploy a viable solution that could be implemented for long-term use.
A+s it was the final project, I wanted to showcase my growth of knowledge and to demonstrate a critical thinking mind-set . Much reflection and introspection occurred along this journey . I was often required to internally assess my strengths and weaknesses and make conscious and calculated effort to improve on those weaknesses with a dose of practicality and pragmatism. Essentially, ‘Design Project: EDID 6512’ was the height of actualising my role as an Instructional Designer.
Throughout this process, several goals were realised. I wanted to:
This program has helped me to further demonstrate my ability to systematically and methodically analyze my own assumptions as well as those of others while carefully evaluating the relevance of contexts when presenting data. This proved to have been an important skillset for me as the court room environments were fully charged with many influencial undercurrents as I conducted my study. In short this journey has been nothing shy of a rollacoaster ride. The jury is still out on whether I would take the rida again soon.
