EDID 6503

The concept of developing instructional models was of great concern since the models  discussed in the course text always seemed very intimidating and as though decades of work  went into creating them. In addition to this challenge, this project proved to be a very  demanding one that required a great degree of planning, organization and most of all teamwork.  Congratulations must be extended to all  teammates.

This paper  afforded me the opportunity to critically assess  and analyze my working environment and the instructional practices used there in tandem with those of my peers. As an educator in this age of information I support the fact that the integration of technology in the learning environment enhances the experience. From research and personal experiences I recognized that technology promotes:An engaging learning experience,Diversity within the learning environment ,Initiative and self-directive learning. Kimble, G(2016) suggests that learning theories are developments of perspectives used to explain how the “change in behavior” may occur. Exploring the Behaviorist, Cognitive and Constructivist Learning theories allowed me to understand that although they may be presented separately they also work in producing a positive learning experience.

This  journey of writing this paper  has made me mindful of objectives that are SMART. Merging work environments and cultures are always challenging. Ideally what may be perfect in theory may be counterproductive in practice. Merging  our learning environments was not difficult as we have discussed our work environments and were able to compare them in terms of theory to practical ratios .Against the influence of Gagné’s Nine Events of Instruction  throughout the models I am confident that our merge is likely to work well in practice .

I now have a better sense of  how I'd apply each stage within my own work environment  as well The Dick and Carey model. The  way that legislature guides and shapes the usefulness of some models. There has also been a link between the behaviourist nature of the Dick and Carey model and the characteristics of systems oriented models. The ARC model included motivation  at strategic points throughout the instruction process.I  am convinced  that this paper has helped  assess and analyse work environments  and the degree to which the obvious  models may be impactful . The gene pool of the nation has changed and the student population now includes persons who are dyslexic and autistic to name a few. Many educators are willing participants of this initiative because they realize that they are now catering to a class of students with mixed abilities and learning styles in a digital age. There is therfore a need for development beyond a basic competence within a digital age. Therefore the capacity to perform a given type of task or activity with a given degree of effectiveness, efficiency, speed, are typically classified according to execution and management of performance.  Productive skills inclusive of activities that involve planning or a procedure appropriate to the specific situation through the application of theory, general principles, and creativity. i.e. the application of an algorithm or theory . Skills are definitely  classified according to the parts of the executing organism (Reigeluth & Carr-Chellman, p. 202).
